DMPS Offers Free Summer Meal Program

DMPS will again offer breakfast and lunch over the summer months to children 18 and younger. The number of sites has grown, and so have the number of meals served. Last summer, DMPS staff fed children 28,722 breakfasts and 79,698 lunches. DMPS has sponsored a summer meal program for more than 30 years. Summer Sports Camp

Des Moines Public Schools has a long history and tradition of students competing at the highest levels in a variety of sports. DMPS is expanding opportunities for more and more students to participate in a wide range of activities, including athletics. Dirt Cups for Sale to celebrate Earth Day

Roosevelt Student Council will be selling dessert dirt cups in honor of Earth Day this April. Student Council students will be stationed in the Commons and Front Hall after school on Monday, April 20, Tuesday, April 21, and Wednesday, April 22. Dessert cups cost $1, but students will also be able to donate additional funds. All proceeds go to updating the outdoor commons and courtyard.

DMPS, Roosevelt Grad Rates Go Up

The Class of 2014 graduation rate set a new high mark for Des Moines Public Schools as every high school saw an increase. At Roosevelt, our graduation rate increased to 93.68%. TRHS COURSE REGISTRATION FOR THE 2015-2016 SCHOOL YEAR! Portal will be open from April 6 (7 am) -April 20th (7 am). All students MUST utilize this for course requests for the 2015-2016 school year.

Please note if you student attends Central Academy and has made his/her request already, they do NOT need to complete online course registration. Incoming 9th graders do not need to complete online course registration.

Former Boy Soldier Speaks at Roosevelt

Roosevelt English teacher Emily Bollinger, whose class is reading the memoir of a boy soldier, brought the lesson to life on Thursday when she hosted Mohamed Sidibay, a former child fighter from Sierra Leone. Students to Provide Lunchtime Feedback

Starting this week, middle and high school students will be asked to review one new menu item each month. It’s a new program the Central Nutrition Center hopes will engage students in a discussion about nutrition and taste. Championship Season: Riders Celebrate 1965

Last Friday the clock was turned back fifty years at Roosevelt High School. A pep assembly in the school auditorium and a halftime ceremony in the gym were staged to honor the boys’ basketball team that won a state championship for the Roughriders in 1965.
